Experimental Study on the Behavior of Axially Loaded Reinforced Concrete Square Columns Strengthened with SIFCON Shell

Slurry infiltrated fiber concrete (SIFCON) is an advanced generation of fiber-reinforced (FRC) with higher content. SIFCON offers excellent potential for use in areas that require high ductility and impact resistance, particularly when designing seismic retrofits repairing or strengthening structural reinforced members. This study investigated the behavior square normal strength (NSC) columns grade M35 strengthened shell compared them unstrengthen NSC. The effect different thicknesses (2 3) cm, type volume fraction (4 6%), tie spacing (8 16) cm were studied. types employed polypropylene hooked-end steel fiber. Eleven cast tested current investigation two groups, where first group (control specimens) consists NSC one column a 2 6% ratio. second comprises eight hybrid shell. had dimensions (8x8x80) cm. 3 thickness was observed to evolve strengthen columns' load-carrying capacity energy absorption. maximum load achieved about 223% as unstrengthened columns. absorption 16 times control.
